Most hanging lights use standard E27 or E14 bulbs (LED, filament or smart) and include adjustable cable, chain or rod suspension for ceilings from 2.4 m to 4+ m. Diameters range from 15 cm compact café-style pendants to 60 cm statement drop lights for high-ceiling entryways.

Pendant is the technical term for a single-drop suspended light. 'Hanging light' is the broader category that includes pendants, cluster fixtures, lantern-style drops and chandelier-style hanging fixtures. Every pendant is a hanging light; not every hanging light is a pendant.
How high should a hanging light be from the floor?
In a walkway, at least 210 cm from the floor to the bottom of the shade so people can walk under it. Over a table or counter, 75–90 cm above the surface. Over a staircase landing, at least 200 cm above the highest step.
Can I adjust the drop length of a hanging light?
