Very well packaged and protected. The lamp arrives completely disassembled and without instructions. Thank goodness I had already bought another one just like it and knew how to do it. The amber color is barely noticeable when it's on. I'll put in a warm light bulb to see if the glass looks more golden. I like that the bar doesn't bend under the weight of the glass. A problem I have is that the thread that holds the lampshade gets stuck because it is defective, and I can't fully thread it, so it hangs more than it should. It has a manual switch on the socket that's quite nice, although I'm not going to use it. Otherwise, it's pretty and fits well with the cottage style.
